I’ve also listed out my favorites and recommendations on the best women’s golf club sets below.

Women’s Golf Club Set Reviews

TaylorMade Kalea Women’s Golf Club Set

What It Includes:

Driver, 3 & 5 Woods, 5 & 6 Hybrids, 7, 8 & 9 Irons, Pitching Wedge, Sand Wedge, Putter, Golf Bag, Head Covers.

Taylormade is a top brand in the golf club equipment industry and have been designing clubs for over 30 years. This Taylormade Kalea Women’s Golf Club Set is a newer line of ladies’ golf clubs that are specifically designed for women. This set offers a complete set of golf clubs that can take you from tee to green and anything in between.

Personally, I like the fact that this set offers 2 fairway woods in addition to 2 hybrid clubs. There are many times where you may need both. I tend to use my fairway woods for distance from the fairway, but hybrids are known to be forgiving and can help you get out of tricky places and I find easier to hit in many situations. The clubs’ graphite shafts are made of an ultra lightweight soft construction providing a great feel when swinging the club and offering up more distance off the tee and fairways.

Taylormade does a great job with its new speed pocket and easy to launch technology making shots more forgiving overall.

Pros

  • Great Taylormade brand
  • Great club selection with 2 hybrids and 2 fairway woods
  • Good for beginner or intermediate golfers
  • Mallet Putter with solid performance
  • Nice color and design options
  • Cart golf bag is durable with organized compartments

Cons

  • Price
  • Iron selection is somewhat limited. Could use a 5 & 6 iron

Callaway Women’s Strata Ultimate Golf Club Set

What It Includes:

Driver, 3 Wood, 4 & 5 Hybrid, 6, 7, 8, 9 Irons, Pitching Wedge, Sand Wedge, Putter, a Stand Bag, and Headcovers

The Callaway Women’s Strata Ultimate Golf Club Set is designed for the ultimate performance in mind.  The clubs consist of a flexible graphite shaft for great ease and power.  Woods can be somewhat challenging to hit from the fairways, so having hybrids is a nice alternative.  The golf bag is sectioned so you can keep your clubs organized and the headcovers are nice for keeping the club heads from getting damaged when being bounced around and carried.  The golf bag also has a strap for carrying your clubs, a stand when resting, and can be used on a golf push cart or a motorized cart.

Pros

  • Great Callaway brand
  • Good club selection with appropriate gapping
  • Good for a beginner or intermediate golfer
  • Set includes 2 hybrids for easier contact
  • Golf bag includes a cooler compartment
  • Golf bag comes with a stand
  • Price

Cons

  • 11 clubs – could use a few more additional clubs.

Callaway Women’s Solaire Golf Club Set

What It Includes:

Driver, 3 Wood, 5 & 6 Hybrids, 7,8, & 9 Irons, Pitching Wedge, Sand Wedge, Putter, Cart Bag, Headcovers

The Callaway Women’s Solaire Golf club Set is a complete set for your golf game and will carry you through many more years of playing this amazing game. The club set comes with a variety of design choices, a good selection of clubs, and is made from a top brand in the golf industry. The graphite shafts are made to be lightweight for more ease of use and control, also adding valuable distance and accuracy to your shots. The putter is made by Odyssey, one of the top putter brands in golf.

The clubs are nice looking and come with a stylish cart bag. These clubs are offered in both left and right-hand options as well as petite or regular/standard sizing.

Pros

  • Great Callaway brand
  • Great design choices & stylish cart bag
  • Great for beginners and intermediate golfers
  • Odyssey putter included

Cons

  • 11 clubs, good selection but could use a few more irons.
  • No stand on the golf bag.

Cobra Women’s F-Max Superlite Golf Club Set

What It Includes:

Driver, 3,5,7 Woods, 5 Hybrid, 6,7,8,9 Irons, Pitching Wedge, Sand Wedge, Putter, Golf Bag, and Head Covers.

Cobra is a great brand name that has been manufacturing and designing clubs for many years. The Cobra Women’s F-Max Superlite Golf Club Set can be used for a beginner golfer or a more experienced player who has been playing for several years.  I included this set from 2019 because the pricing is a bit lower than this year’s club set. This set offers a robust selection of clubs including fairway woods as well as a hybrid for getting out of tricky places and a full set of irons.  They are well-made golf clubs that offer more distance and forgiveness, using lightweight graphite flex shafts.

The Driver, Woods, and Hybrid are designed with an offset. This means that the leading edge of the golf club head is set back from the actual shaft. This can help provide a higher launch or ball flight, which can be extremely helpful when hitting fairway woods. If you typically have a slice, this offset design can help straighten that out.

The bag is sturdy, well designed with plenty of storage options. The golf bag is a cart bag with no stand, but can be used on a motorized cart or pushcart.

Pros

  • Well known golf brand
  • Robust full set of golf clubs
  • Set can be used for a beginner or intermediate golfer
  • Well designed, sturdy cart golf bag with different design options
  • Lightweight graphite flex shafts – adding more forgiveness and distance
  • Offset design helps launch the ball higher and helps correct a fade or slice

Cons

  • No petite or tall options
  • Golf bag has no stand

Cobra Women’s FMAX Airspeed Golf Club Set

What It Includes:

Driver, 3, 5, & 7 Wood, 5 Hybrid, 6, 7,8, & 9 Irons, Pitching Wedge, Sand Wedge, Putter, Cart Bag, Headcovers

Cobra is one of the great brand names in the golf industry and has been manufacturing and designing clubs for many years. The Cobra Women’s F-Max Airspeed Golf Club Set has been designed to be even lighter than last year’s F-Max Superlight Clubs. It is also a complete and full set of golf clubs that come with a great selection of fairway woods including a 7 Wood and a Hybrid which can both provide a great option of getting out of tough lies and situations.

The Driver, Woods and Hybrid are designed to be offset. This means that the leading edge of the golf club head is set back from the actual shaft. This can help provide a higher launch or ball flight, which can be extremely helpful when hitting fairway woods. The carbon crown design also helps with maximizing speed, distance and accuracy. If you typically have a slice, this offset design can help straighten that out.

The irons are designed to provide greater lofts and perimeter weighting which help launch the ball higher, making for easier shots. The putter is a mallet style putter featuring exceptional feel and control around the greens.

Pros

  • Cobra golf brand
  • Robust full set of golf clubs
  • Set can be used for a beginner or intermediate golfer
  • Carbon Crown for more speed, distance and accuracy
  • Offset design helps launch the ball higher

Cons

  • Price
  • No petite, tall or left-hand options
  • Cart golf bag has no stand

Golf Club Set Buying Guide for Women. Questions to Ask Before Purchasing New Golf Club Sets.

Should I Buy a Golf Club Set or Separate Golf Clubs?

At this point, you have now probably played a good amount or have a good feel of your golf swing. My first set of clubs were my grandmother’s and so the first clubs I bought after about a year of playing was a golf club set that came with everything I needed to play golf especially for out on the course.

So here are a few questions for you.

Do you have hand me down golf clubs right now and are you looking to upgrade? If so, I would consider a golf club set because it will come with everything you need instead of having to buy each club separately.

Do you have a beginner set that you now want to upgrade? Here is where you can go either way. For example, if you like the ease of buying everything together, the golf club sets for intermediate or more advanced players come with a more robust offering like a fuller set and usually higher quality than a less expensive starter golf set.

But, let’s say you like a few of the clubs you already have in your current bag. Maybe you don’t want to replace your full set. There’s nothing wrong with adding or replacing a few clubs in your current golf bag. I do this all the time, just adding a new something here and there :). Just know that the pricing is a lot higher for clubs bought separately.

That brings me to the next question. What is your budget? Buying a complete golf set can be an affordable way to go versus purchasing golf clubs separately. The amount of clubs you can carry in your bag is 14 clubs. One driver can cost in the $400-$500 range, so that can get really expensive purchasing items separately.

How long have you been playing and how committed are you and how often do you play? My first set of golf clubs were made from a top golf brand and this good quality set lasted me over 10 years. Part of this is because when I started playing golf, I played a good amount but then it waned because I started a family and just didn’t have the time to commit to playing more. These golf clubs were perfectly fine for my amount of golf I played over the years.

My personal feeling is that if you have been playing for a shorter amount of time and are getting out there once in a while, I think the ladies golf club sets on the market are a good easy option and there are plenty that are quality made from top brands.

If you are becoming a more seasoned or experienced player, it might be worth it to look into buying clubs separately for what you need.

Should I consider Purchasing Men’s or Women’s Golf Clubs?

Manufacturers and brands design clubs with different types of golfers in mind.  This can be based on gender, age, experience, height, swing type, strength, and many other different factors.  As you play more and become a more experienced golfer, you will figure out if you need something more specific to your needs.

There are some known differences between men’sand women’s golf clubs.  Women’s golf clubs tend to be shorter to compensate for our shorter frames and tend to have more flexible, softer, and lightweight graphite shafts.  These club shafts are designed to provide more forgiveness and power in our golf shots.

Luckily, club manufacturers make it easy and simple to buy the golf clubs suited to your experience level.  That is not to say that you have to stick with a women’s set.  A friend of mine who is a very good golfer, plays with men’s golf clubs because she has the height and likes the feel of a steel shaft.  She knows her game and what works for her through her years of playing.

I also know of many women that use senior men’s clubs because though the shaft is graphite like a women’s golf club, it is made with a stiffer shaft. These can be good for women who might have a stronger or faster swing speed and can generate a good amount of power.

Do I Need to Get Fitted Before Purchasing a New Set of Golf Clubs?

Getting fitted for golf clubs these days has become very important.  Mostly for the reasons I stated above. With so much new technology, golf clubs can be customized to your particular swing, physical attributes, and feel.

When you get fitted for clubs, a club-fitter will take everything into consideration like how you swing the club, your height, your power as well as swing paths, swing speed, ball speed, trajectories, all of this.

If you are newer to golf, it might not be as important. If you are interested in getting a fitting there are different kinds of golf club fitters out there. If you are looking at a golf club set and want to be fitted, you will most likely be fitted at the store that sells the set. They will let you try out the clubs and will use technology that measures and takes these attributes into consideration.

If you are working with a teaching professional, sometimes they can also provide you a fitting. Or at least guide you in the right direction because they will know your type of swing and know you as a golfer, which is really important.

What Factors Should I Look At When Buying a Set?

Here’s what you need to consider when looking to buy a standard issued or out of the box set of golf clubs.

  • Price.  This is probably one of the biggest factors to look at when you are purchasing a new set of golf clubs.  Think about your budget as mentioned above.
  • What’s Included.  What golf clubs should a women or anyone carry in her golf bag to play a round of golf? This is a common question I get. Make sure the golf club set you purchase is complete with all the necessities that you will need.  At a minimum, the golf set should include a driver, a wood or hybrid for the fairway, a couple of irons, a wedge, a putter and a golf bag.  For more experienced players, I would lean towards the golf sets that have a more robust offering of clubs clubs. These would include a driver, fairway woods, at least 1 hybrid, a good selection of irons, pitching wedge, sand wedge, putter, and a golf bag.
  • Bag Type.  This is dependent on whether you will be walking a lot on the course or riding in a golf cart. Think about whether you will need a bag to carry on your back, or will be using a pushcart. If so, you’ll want to consider a bag with a stand (like a kickstand on a bike that props the bag up at rest). These bags do tend to be lighter than a cart bag. A cart bag, on the other hand, is used pretty much for riding carts or pushcarts and does not have a stand.
  • Customized Options.  These might include whether you need a right-handed or left-handed golf set.  Some golf club sets come in different sizes depending on how tall you are – usually petite, standard/regular, or tall.  Be sure to look to see if these options are offered if you need them.
  • Shafts.  The majority of women’s golf clubs today use a lightweight graphite shaft which can help with providing more distance, better contact, and ease in swinging the golf club.  If you are looking for a stronger graphite shaft or a steel shaft, you can also look at using senior men’s or men’s clubs.
  • Brand – there are many very well known top golf brands that offer a good selection of ladies golf club sets that are quality made. If you are specific to a brand, definitely check out the brand to see if they offer a golf club set. It’s definitely worth looking into.

Final Thoughts on Women’s Golf Club Sets

Now that you have read through this women’s golf club set buying guide, hopefully, I have made it a little easier to select and buy a new set of golf clubs.

I have 2 favorite picks overall. The Callaway Women’s Solaire Complete Golf Club Set is a great golf club set for beginners or intermediate players. If you get them as a beginner golfer, they are made to last and grow with you as you become improve in your game. Callaway has done a great job in designing golf clubs and focuses on quality design and performance.

I also like the offering of club selection from the fairways woods to hybrids. Both of which are so needed out on the golf course.

And the Cobra F-Max Ladies Airspeed Golf Club Set is the other club set for beginner to intermediate golfers. I actually have a set of Cobra fairway woods and a 5 hybrid or rescue club from the early 2000’s that I still use today because I hit them so well and can get a nice high launch from the fairway.

I also didn’t know the value of having a 7 wood for the longest time (it just stayed in my garage) until I saw a friend getting out of the heavy rough with it. It is so much easier to hit than a 3 or 5 wood for me and can really get me out of the rough as well as over water or other hazards that I want to avoid. It is a staple in my bag now and I absolutely love and use it regularly.

I do need to mention that if you are looking for a good solid set of golf clubs especially as someone newer to golf, the Callaway Women’s Strata Ultimate Golf Club Set is a great deal.

Like my golf club set I had, these clubs will grow with you and can last for years in your golf hobby and passion. Really, you can’t go wrong with the brands and club sets I have listed above as these companies have great reputations in golf club technology so you know you are getting quality made golf clubs.

I wish you the best of luck on your journey in playing this amazing game of golf. It has provided so much enjoyment for me over the years and I hope it does for you too. I’d love to hear any comments or questions you have so feel free to comment below.

Helping a girl on my team get clubs. I checked you recommendations for beginner and like two sets. The question I have is this: she is tall (5-8ish). How do we know the clubs will be long enough when ordering online? A quick reply would be nice.

    1. Lynn on the Links

      Hi,
When ordering online, many club sets are standard unless they mention “petite” or “tall”. I think standard sizing is good typically for women or girls that are 5’4 – 5’7. You may want to look at Senior Men’s Clubs Sets for her. Many of the same brands and styles offer them in senior men’s and men’s as well. If she is on your high school team, senior men’s might be a good fit because she may have a faster swing speed and power. I used to play with these when I was younger as they have a little stiffer flex in the shaft. Hope this helps and good luck!
