TaylorMade Golf Bag with Stand

The TaylorMade Golf Bag with Stand is a traditional golf bag that is perfect for carrying or pushing on a cart. With two handles at the top for easy handling, it is lightweight and smaller than a cart bag. The golf bag comes with larger pockets on the side for items like a golf towel or a light jacket and has a small pocket for personals like money, credit cards, and other small items. There are front pockets for balls, tees, golf gloves, and other needed accessories. Several different color combinations are offered.

This Vessel Golf Bag with Stand is made for those that want a golf stand and will carry their clubs on the course. The high tech golf bag has adjustable ergonomic straps that can be customized to one’s liking for added comfort and support.

It uses a special “rotator base technology” that helps keep the base on the ground for improved stability and balance. A magnetic accessories pocket is an additional feature that helps keep small personal items safe. The bag has 3 separate sections for clubs at the top.

Orlimar Golf Bag

Sometimes golfers may want to walk a golf course or head to the practice range without the hassle of bringing the entire golf bag or a full set of clubs. This Orlimar Golf Bag, sometimes referred to as a “pitch and putt bag” or a “Sunday bag”, is great for playing Par 3, Executive courses, 9 holes, or going to the practice range.

It holds about 6 – 7 clubs including the putter and has 1 pocket that can hold accessories such as balls, tees, ball markers, pencils, and a glove. The bag weighs less than 2 pounds and comes with a single shoulder strap as well as a stand to keep the clubs upright.

Women’s Golf Bags – Buying Guide and FAQ’s

With 14 clubs in the bag to carry in addition to all that’s needed on the course for a 2 – 4+ hour round, the golf bag is an important piece of your arsenal. Maybe it won’t provide you with pars all day long, but it can provide a level of comfort, enjoyment and some style to your game.

Depending on what you may need and are looking for, there is pretty much a golf bag for everyone. Golf bags have come a long way over the years and even more so in recent years. So many styles and levels of functionality are offered, which means so much to choose from.

Here are some frequently asked questions as well as factors to look at when purchasing a golf bag.

What Is The Difference Between a Golf Bag With a Stand and a Golf Cart Bag?

Let’s first look at the purpose of a golf cart bag versus a golf bag with a stand.

A golf “cart” bag is just that. Designed to be placed on a cart during a round of golf. Because of this, cart bags typically are larger and wider in size with many pockets that vary in size as well as separate sections on the top for each of your golf clubs.

A golf bag with a stand is designed for those who don’t want to lay their clubs on the ground when carrying. Like a kickstand on a bicycle, the stand helps prop up the golf bag when left alone. With two retractable legs that hold the golf bag upright at an angle, this allows for stability so the bag doesn’t tip over, and keeps the clubs and bag from lying flat on the ground.

Because these bags are designed with the purpose of being carried, they are typically smaller, lighter, and less bulky than a cart bag. These come with a single or double shoulder strap for added support when carrying the bag across the back.

Which Type of Golf Bag Should I Purchase?

It depends on whether you will be riding in a cart, pushing a cart, or carrying your golf clubs. If you are carrying your golf clubs, what kind of support do you need?

My parents live in a golf retirement community where they own a motorized electric golf cart and keep it in their garage. All golfers are required to use the golf carts on their home course. Since they rarely need to carry their golf clubs except on and off the golf cart, they both have large cart bags. Having a bag this size with lots of storage compartments and a place for each of their clubs is great to have as long as you don’t have to lift the bag very much. They are heavy!

My friend, on the other hand, walks and carries her golf clubs for 18 holes of golf. She uses a very lightweight women’s golf bag with a stand, and a double shoulder strap for added back support. She keeps her accessories to a minimum, so less pockets are needed as she doesn’t want to have to carry any unnecessary or extra weight.

If you use a push cart, you could actually go either way.

It depends on how bulky or how much extra weight you want to be pushing around on the course. I personally like to keep things light as I have a somewhat hilly course. Since I do a bit of walking and carry my golf clubs to and from the practice range, I need a ladies lightweight golf bag with a stand and double shoulder straps.

However, I have been thinking about purchasing a small Sunday bag like the one shown above to take a few clubs to the practice range.

What Other Factors Should I Consider When Purchasing a Golf Bag?

Here are a few other things to consider:

Pushcarts

If you plan to use a pushcart, make sure that the bag you purchase will fit on your pushcart. A big cart bag may actually be too big for the base of the push cart.

Also, think about how much weight you want to be pushing. Though you are pushing a cart, it is still expending energy. If you are playing on a flat course and it is an easy terrain, a bigger bag might be fine. However, if your terrain is quite hilly, you may want to think about the size and weight you will be pushing up the hills as well as holding the bag steady on the downhills.

Pockets

More and more golf bags are including a cooler compartment where you can keep a few drinks cool on a hot day. A very nice addition!

If you are going to be out on the golf course for a good 4 – 5 hours in the outside elements, you would be surprised by the number of accessories and needed items you might need.

Particularly if the weather is going to change while you are out there, it is important to bring extra layers and clothing to account for this. For example, if there are possible showers in the forecast, you’ll want to bring a rain jacket, umbrella, rain golf gloves and maybe even rain pants.

That right there takes up a lot of storage in one’s bag. Besides golf balls, tees, ball markers, repair tools, and golf gloves, you will need a place to store your wallet, phone, car keys, extra golf glove, sunscreen, water, beverages, and well you get the idea. There are a lot of extra items to bring and having different compartments or pockets can help keep these items organized, easy to find and access.

Ease of Use for Getting Clubs In and Out of a Bag

The main purpose of a golf bag is to hold your clubs.

A golfer can carry up to 14 clubs in their bag and some bags have separate dividers with is a compartment for each club. This is called a 15-way golf bag. Because of the space it takes up, these are usually cart bags. A carry bag or golf bag with a stand might vary from 3 to 7 separate sections.

If you don’t like the golf grips getting stuck on each other when pulling out a club or don’t like the clubs clanging against each other, you’ll want a separate compartment for each club, which would be a 15 – way golf bag with full length dividers.

Bag Style, Colors and Materials

You can have a lot of fun with your golf bag as there are so many styles, colors, patterns, and materials. The golf bag can be a reflection of your style or personality.

Do you want nylon, leather, or a performance material?

How about sleek, big and bold, or traditional?

Do you want flowers, polka dots, plaid, or block patterns?

Do you want blue, black, white, yellow, red, purple or a pink golf bag?

Yes, you can find just about anything. Have fun with this!

Monogramming or Personalization

Many golf bags show the name and logo of the brand. In addition to this, some golf bags have the option of adding customized monogramming, which is a nice feature. You’ll see this a lot with tour players as well as teaching professionals in the golf industry. If you want this added, check to see if the bag comes with this option.

Top Push Carts for Golf

Push carts are one of the best conveniences in golf besides riding in a motorized cart. Instead of having to lug a full set of golf clubs on your back, we can push our clubs along while walking and getting some great exercise.

When I first started golf, there were only pull carts which all first had 2 wheels and then a 3rd wheel was added years later. Golfers would pull the bag with one arm behind them. Today, most golfers push their cart in front of them from hole to hole. And now there are a great many different options to choose from like 3 or 4 wheels, swivel or stationary wheels, weight and functionality, motorized or not, and lot of fun colors.

Here, I am listing out a quick list of the Top Recommended Golf Push Carts. Scroll further down for a helpful Buyer’s Guide on Push Golf Carts. This includes some of the important features to think about when selecting and purchasing a push cart for golf.

List of Top Recommended Push Carts for Golf

Descriptions With Review of Best Push Golf Carts

Clicgear Golf Push Cart

The Clicgear Golf Push Cart keeps improving upon a great push cart. My original Clicgear is going on 7 years now and is still going strong. This push cart is extremely durable and is made with aluminum tubing which makes it hardy but light enough to push, as well as airless tires that are great for most kinds of terrain on a golf course. For storage, Clicgear provides a medium-sized net, right below the dashboard console. This console which is located near the main pushing handle can hold your immediate necessities like extra golf balls, pencil, marker, tees, and scorecard. The brake is controlled by the hands not the feet.

Half a dozen accessories are available to order as extras if you need them. Items such as a seat, a cooler bag, a sand bottle, and an umbrella mount that adjusts at an angle. The push cart folds down to a relatively small size. The folding/unfolding process is a bit complex the first few times, but once you know how to do it, it gets easier. This push cart comes in many different color options – the most offered.

Though push carts are becoming more and more lightweight, this Clicgear model is one of the heavier carts weighing 21 pounds. However, it is a workhorse and is sturdy.

Clicgear Rovik Push Cart

Clicgear offers several different push cart models, some of which come with 3 wheels, 4 wheels, or swivel wheels. The Clicgear Rovik Push Cart is a 3 wheel push cart with a front wheel that swivels. The swivel wheel helps maneuver the push cart on flat surfaces managing turns with ease instead of having to lift the front wheel up off the ground. This swivel wheel can be locked in place to provide stability on uneven terrain.

Other differences between the standard Clicgear model and the Rovic include the following:

  • The Rovik doesn’t have a storage net, but the console is larger.
  • The Rovik is smaller and lighter, weighing 17 pounds.
  • Instead of a hand brake, the Rovik has a foot brake.
  • Extra accessories are offered, however, some are specific and custom to the Rovik.
  • The Rovik offers a smaller selection of colors.

Sun Mountain Golf Push Cart

The Sun Mountain Golf Push Cart is a lighter push cart with 3 wheels. This popular model is known for lightness and functionality as it weighs 18 pounds. What I like about this cart is that there are two storage baskets – a larger one to carry clothing like a jacket and a smaller one to carry extra golf balls, a snack, or a golf glove. The handle and console allow the user to adjust the angle, which helps with ergonomics and individual preferences. Also, includes separate holders for a cell phone, water bottle, and umbrella. Extra accessories that you can purchase include a seat and a sand/seed bottle holder.

The cart itself fits the majority of different-sized golf bags whether they are cart or carry bags. The older versions of this Sun Mountain golf cart used inflatable tires, however, the more recent models use harder plastic wheels that won’t deflate or pop. This cart folds and is easy to store. It is not as small or compact as others on the market, but is easy to fold. One bonus is that you don’t need to take the golf bag off the cart each time it is folded and unfolded.

Bag Boy Nitron Golf Push Cart

The Bag Boy Nitron Golf Push Cart weighs 16.5 pounds and is very compact when folded. It is known for being easy and fast to fold and unfold especially compared to other more complex folding push carts. The parking brake is a hand brake versus a foot brake. The console features a solid, easy to access beverage holder, cell phone holder as well as space for the scorecard and golf balls. The storage bag is small to medium and is located under the handle and console. There are also half a dozen standard color options.

One thing to keep in mind with this bag is that if you don’t have a Bag Boy golf bag, it might not fit as perfectly on the cart as it uses a “Top-Loc” technology that locks in a Bag Boy bag without any straps.

Caddytek Golf Push Cart

The Caddytek Golf Push Cart is a sturdy, affordable push cart. It is strong and stable with an aluminum frame and weighs 18 pounds. The cart folds up into a small compact design. The wheels are built to work on most golf course terrains and make it easy to push. The bag also comes with an insulated basket that helps keep beverages or snacks cool. It also comes with an adjustable handle and console, as well as a small netted basket to hold golf balls, ball markers and glove. Includes an umbrella and drink holder. Different color options are available.

One thing to note is that the front wheel is off to the side a bit, compared to other carts where the wheel is in front of the bag.

Buyer’s Guide to Golf Push Carts

When it comes to push golf carts, every year they come out with improved models, extra accessories, new styles, and now different color combinations. So much to choose from.

Let’s look at the main features you may want to think about when figuring out what golf cart may be best for you.

Price or Budget

Price can be a big factor, especially these days as we are finding that push carts are in high demand and low in supply. I am finding that the pricing can vary wildly. That may change in time when supply gets back to normal.

One thing to note about price is that quality does factor in. Think about the number of times you will be playing. Maybe you play 4 days a week and will most likely be walking and using a push cart. In this case, you probably will want to go with a sturdy, reliable, and quality-made push cart that will be able to perform over and over for you. My Clicgear is going on 7 years now and I use it about 4 – 5 days a week! It’s still going strong.

Accessories

What accessories do you need with your golf cart? Many come with the standard umbrella and drink holder as well as a console and basket. A few others are now adding cell phone holders and more storage.

Additional components are also offered at a separate price or add-on, which include items such as wheel covers (above), umbrella angler, mittens for cold weather, cooler bags, and travel covers. It is nice to be able to add on additional accessories you may need now or in the future.

Seat

The attachable seat on a push cart is a much-needed accessory for some as it allows you to rest and take a load off the legs or back during the round. Walking and pushing a cart for 2 – 5 hours can be tiring. Add in hills and it can be exhausting. A few carts like the Clicgear above have this added extra seat accessory which attaches right to the cart.

Terrain – Wheels and Brakes

Another important aspect is the type of terrain or golf course landscape you will be playing.

Is your course flat or hilly? Does it have low cut rough or is there fescue everywhere with rocky terrain? Do you want a swivel wheel so you can turn and maneuver the cart easily? Do you want 3 or 4 wheels? 3 is standard and great for uneven terrain. 4 wheels may give you more stability on a flatter course.

With regards to brakes, the biggest key is whether you want a foot brake or a hand brake. I personally like a hand brake, but a foot brake is good too. Mostly it is a personal preference.

Weight

Some golf push carts are heavier than others and can differ by about 5 pounds or so. The heavier carts are sturdy and will last a good amount of years, but can be a bit bulky. It depends on how much you can or want to lift in and out of your car when transporting it to the course and also how much you want to push around on the course. With all the high-tech materials, there are some extremely lightweight carts that you can find. And I have a feeling that carts will become lighter, more efficient and ergonomic in the future.

Easy to Fold and Store

Push golf carts are designed today to fold down for smaller storage. It’s great for transporting in the trunk of the car or storing at home.

It is important to think about how large or small your space is to store the push cart when not in use. Push carts fold down into various sizes, from longer to fairly compact.

The only downside with these folding mechanisms is that sometimes they can be a bit of a hassle. Most push carts might be complex at first, however, after performing it a few times, it gets easier.

Affordable Golf Gifts That Won’t Break the Bank

Golf can be expensive to play.

However, that doesn’t mean that everything you buy for a golfer has to cost an arm and a leg.

Golf is great because there are tons of items that are used on the golf course while playing and off the golf course while practicing. There are accessories, gadgets and apparel that can make any golfer happy.

I’ve put together a list of items that would make great gifts for golfers under $50. And items that they will surely either love or can use in their golf games.

Here are some great golf gifts that are affordable and that a golfer would love.

Golf Balls

Every golfer needs golf balls to play golf.

Golf balls need to be replenished from either usage, but mostly from being lost out on the golf course. Receiving golf balls as a gift is a really nice gesture.

Even the expensive golf balls are just under $50. And the great thing is, there are golf balls that perform well and are lower in price so they provide great value and are loved by many golfers. I’ve listed a few that are well liked and popular.

Titleist Pro V1’s are the ultimate high-performance golf balls for golfers that want to play their best. These golf balls help give golfers incredible distance on their golf shots and great control of the ball around the greens. If you want to give them one of the best, these will surely impress any golfer.

The mission of Vice Golf Balls was to create a golf ball that performed just as well as the big names and be sold at a lower price point. The founders wanted to create a ball at a fraction of the cost without sacrificing quality and performance. The Vice golf ball brand is edgy and trendy in today’s golfing world.

Callaway SuperSoft golf balls offer amazing value. These are great for almost any level of golfer as they are very forgiving and help provide great distance and feel. They come in white and an array of bright colors which is becoming more and more popular with golfers.

Practical Golf Gifts

After a golfer finishes golf, they need a place to put all the odds and ends from their round. This includes tees, balls, ball markers, towels, shoes, golf glove, just to name a few! It can be a lot to organize.

This golf trunk organizer can help. Having a place to stash all these items in between rounds is great for keeping it all organized and not bringing it all into the house.

A golfer needs a golf shoe carrier to transport their shoes from home to the golf course and vice versa. A golf shoe carrier can help keep golf shoes nice and clean and a place to store and carry the golf shoes.

Many golfers will wear different shoes to the golf course and then change into their golf shoes before their round. And there are still a few clubs that don’t allow golf shoes to be worn inside the clubhouse. Thus the need to carry the shoes from one location to another.

Golfers like to bring beverages along during their round of golf. My husband has this handy golf cooler and what he likes about it is that it fits right into the side pocket of his golf bag. We like to walk the course and this is perfect for storing and bringing a few beverages along on the course.

If a golfer rides in a golf cart even occasionally, these golf cart coolers make a nice gift. They keep beverages and snacks nice and cool during a hot summer day. I use these for water, beverages, snacks, and also storing my cooling towel when it’s really hot.

Every golfer needs a pair of rain pants and rain gloves in inclement rainy weather. It is the risk of being outside. These are essentials that a golfer can carry in their golf bag and have when needed.

Sunday golf bags are great to have because they are light and easier on the back to carry.

Affordable Golf Gifts for the Home

Golfers love to show their love for the game. Even at home.

There are many affordable and nice golf gifts that you can provide for the home. We love golf quotes, pictures of golfers, and pretty much anything golf. I am listing just a few ideas to get the juices flowing.

Golf Gift Sets

Golf gift sets are great gifts as they usually include more than 1 item and present nicely. Here are a few that I thought would be nice to give and receive.

I love these gift sets because they are fun and they provide a much-needed golf towel, tees, ball marker and clip and a pouch to hold small items.

Inexpensive Golf Gifts That Will Help Improve The Golf Game

Practice at home with this great chipping net and set.

The Puttout putt trainer is one of the biggest gadgets the last couple of years. Drive for show, putt for dough. This makes it easy to practice putting wherever they are. Easy to move around and pack up for portability and comes in several different colors.

This is a great putting mat for home or office practice.

The SKLZ Weighted Tempo Trainer helps with grip and tempo or rhythm which are two of the most important parts of the golf swing.

The SKLZ Smashbag Golf Trainer helps golfers with learning the “correct ball impact”. Great for at home practice.

Unique Gifts for Golfers Under $50

Attach these spikes onto the bottom of any athletic shoes and they transform into golf shoes on the golf course.

A golf towel that attaches with magnets that can be carried around on the golf course. It can easily attach to the golf club around the green and also on the golf cart.

This Stripe Bird Range Finder Holder can attach to the golf cart to provide easy accessibility to the range finder. And these come in many different colors to choose from.

Attach this JBL Bluetooth speaker to the golf bag for some tunes on the golf course.

This doubles as a rain protector for the clubs as well as a towel to wipe the clubs when dirty or wet.

Think Glow Golf. These are great for golfing in the dark. While there are golf courses that offer this, there are also times where a golfer may get stuck playing the last few holes in the dark. And believe me, it is really hard to see any golf ball after the sun has set. These are great because they light up and go streaking through the night – easy to see and fun!

Golf Gift Books

If you are looking for a nice gift to give a golf lover, this Remarkable Golf Courses Book includes some of the most interesting golf courses around the world. I’ve added a few of these courses to my bucket list. This book is a coffee table type book – a bit larger and comes in a hardcover. This would make a perfect gift for someone you want to thank for inviting you to play at their course.

Arnold Palmer, a true legend and ambassador of the game. This autobiography talks through his philosophies on the game and life.

If you are interested in reading about one of golf’s most amazing women, read this book about Babe Didrikson Zaharias, one of the greatest athletes and female golfers in history. “Despite attempts to keep women from competing, Babe achieved All-American status in basketball and won gold medals in track and field at the 1932 Olympics. Then Babe attempted to conquer golf. One of the founders of the LPGA, Babe [Didrikson Zaharias] won more consecutive tournaments than any golfer in history.”

Harvey Penick’s Little Red Book was my first ever golf book and after many years of golfing, I still refer back to this timeless treasure of easy-to-follow golf tips, instruction and thoughts about the game. This best selling book is great for all golfers at any level.

A true classic that every golfer should read. Ben Hogan’s fundamentals of the basic golf swing.

Bob Rotella’s Golf is Not a Game of Perfect is my go-to golf book. I have read this book many times as he provides experiences, stories and lessons on how to lower your score, compete and have the proper mindset. Every golfer should read this book.

A great read by any golfer about the famous match of Francis Ouimet, the young amateur from Brookline Massachusetts who won the 1913 US Open playing against the best professional golfers from around the world.

Small Golf Gift Ideas

Do you need ideas for smaller golf gifts like stocking stuffers, party favors or small thank you golf gifts? These are nice thoughtful gift ideas.

This is a complete golf gift list that I wanted to make sure has something for everyone. As you can see, there are many affordable golf gifts that you can give the golfer in your life that can be practical, fun or unique.

Hope this helps you in providing something special to the golfer in your life. If you are looking for more gift ideas for golders, check out the posts below.

Ultimate List of Golf Gift Ideas for Her

Do you have a friend, girlfriend, spouse, partner, sister, child, mother or grandmother that golfs or wants to golf?

You must be here to get some gift ideas for these golfers in your life.

You are in luck because golf requires a lot of equipment just to play. From golf clubs, golf bags, shoes, balls, gadgets, training aids and so on, the list goes on. And if she has pretty much everything she needs, there are so many accessories that make golf fun and stylish.

As a female golfer who has golfed for years, I have researched and come up with an amazing array of gift ideas for her. This is a great mix of golf equipment and accessories that would make some amazing women’s golf gifts.

Who wouldn’t want that?

Hope you enjoy this list and are able to get some great golf gift ideas that she will love.

Golf Gifts for Her

This beautiful golf bracelet is a great golf gift because it not only looks good but it acts as a stroke counter as well. She can use this to help keep track of her score on each hole. Pretty and useful – a win win!

These golf earrings add a touch of specialness to the lady who loves to golf. She can wear these while golfing or for an evening out.

Add some bling and style to her game. This Swarovski Crystal golf ball marker necklace is convenient and easily accessible for marking her ball on the greens.

Gifts For the Beginner Golfer

Give her the gift of golf and a brand new set of golf clubs. She will be so excited to head out to the range or course to test out her new equipment! Strata by Callaway provides a great set of clubs for those just starting out – a complete set with Driver, woods, hybrids, irons, wedges, a putter, a golf bag and head covers.

These Srixon Lady golf balls are specifically made for women golfers. They provide great feel and distance to any golf shot.

This was my first ever golf book and after many years of golfing, I still refer back to this timeless treasure. Great for those just getting into the game, as well as golfers of all levels.

If she doesn’t have a golf ball retriever, she needs one! It helps retrieve the ball out of the water hazards and other out of reach places on the golf course. A practical gift that she can add to her golf bag and will most definitely use.

Counting one’s strokes as a golfer can become very cumbersome and easy to forget the number of times you hit the ball. Even just on one hole! A new golfer will love having a stroke counter to help her on the course.

Fun Ladies Golf Gifts

Give her a creative and fun golf gift set that includes a golf towel, tees, ball marker, hat clip, and tee bag. Add some “fun” to her golf round!

These are the best for teeing it up and so much fun!

She can celebrate her birdies and good shots with this fun birdie juice flask. Cute and small enough to carry along in her golf bag.

Golf Gifts That She Will Love

This Garmin GPS watch is a wonderful gift for measuring the distance from where you are standing to the front, middle or back of the green. It is durable and easy to use. A much needed necessity on the golf course.

A golf rangefinder, like this one from Bushnell, will take her game to the next level by providing EXACT distances to the pin and other hazards or trouble areas around the golf course. Great for improving course management.

If you really want to impress her and help her golf game, give her a Callaway Mavrik Driver, one of the best new drivers this year. Using artificial intelligence (AI) in their design and engineering, Callaway has created a club that performs and is very forgiving.

Clicgear Golf Push Carts have some of the most durable golf carts. I have had mine for 6 years now and it still going strong. It is easy to push, pull and take up and down hilly terrain as well. They have a lot of additional accessories like umbrella holders, mittens for cold weather golf, and even a detachable seat for rest breaks.

Who wouldn’t want a new golf bag? This Glove It Golf Bag will add style and pizzazz to her golf equipment. It is great for organizing and holding all her golf accessories and comes in many different patterns and color choices.

A great pair of golf shoes go a long way on the golf course. Ecco makes golf shoes that are made for comfort, durability, and performance.

Can we say game-changer? A golf cart heater will provide heat and take the chill off of a cold day out on the golf course.

Golf cart seats can get either really hot or really cold. Give her a little comfort when riding in the golf cart and protect her from the elements with this detachable, portable golf cart seat blanket.

Swing this Orange Whip Training Aid at home or prior to a round of golf. It is a wonderful tool for improving rhythm, tempo and flexibility. A great gift for any golfer.

I love these golf gloves and they would be a great gift for golfers. Made of cabretta leather, they are very soft and luxurious on the hands. These Nailed Golf gloves were designed and made just for women. A definite must on the gift list.

Best Sun Protection Hats for Women Golfers

It is essential for golfers to wear protective clothing and hats to avoid the sun’s damaging rays. We can spend anywhere between 2 – 5 hours out in the blazing sun on any given round.

Golf hats play an important role in sun protection for golfers. Shielding the face helps golfers 1) keep the sun out of the eyes, 2) protect against harmful rays, skin cancers, and melanoma, and 3) keep the face and neck youthful-looking.

And golf hats can be a fun way to add fashion or pizzaz to a golfer’s attire and overall look. With so many more apparel options these days, we can actually play golf in style and comfort. Hats can be a great way to accessorize our golf outfits.

I have listed a quick list of my favorite women’s sun hats for golf depending on what you are looking for. Scroll down further for descriptions and the buying guide.

Coolibar Women’s Marina Sun Hat

The Coolibar Women’s Marina Sun Hat is a stylish hat that you can wear when playing golf. It is UPF 50+ and moisture-wicking. It keeps your head cool in hot weather. Wallaroo Women’s Victoria Sun Hat

Wallaroo is a well-known brand in providing sun protection clothing, hats and accessories. This Wallaroo Women’s Victoria Sun Hat is one of their most favorite and “well-loved” sun hats they offer. It is a very stylish hat that comes in 22 different cool colors. The brim provides full coverage from the sun. The only downsides are that it is not listed as UPF 50 and is not easily packable for travel in a suitcase.

Pros:

Scala Women’s Cotton Sun Hat

The Scala Women’s Cotton Sun Hat is another great choice for golfers as the brim can be adjusted up or down for style or extra coverage from the sun. Scala is yet another well-known brand of hats that are known for their quality. This hat comes in 32 different colors, is washable, travel-friendly, and packable and has a UPF 50+ rating. There is also an adjustable cord inside the hat to help with a more customized fit. The downside is the cotton material. It may not be as breathable or as cool on a day with high temperatures as a lighter wicking fabric.

Pros:

  • great brand
  • UPF 50+
  • brim for more sun protection
  • travel friendly and packable
  • comes in 32 different colors
  • washable
  • adjustable cord inside

Cons:

  • cotton may not be as cool on a hot day

Sunday Afternoons Sunset Hat

The Sunday Afternoons Sunset Hat is very stylish and the brim is adjustable and bendable for playing golf. I like to adjust the brim when hitting the ball so I can see a bit more, then readjust for more coverage during the round. This straw hat has a UPF 50+ rating, keeps the head cool in the heat, comes in a few different colors, and has an adjustable chin strap if needed.

Pros:

  • great brand
  • UPF 50+
  • larger brim for more sun protection
  • anti-glare technology under brim
  • cooling side panel ventilation

Cons:

  • comes in only 2 colors

Callaway Golf Sun Hat

This Callaway Golf Sun Hat is made for golfers looking for more protection from the sun than a baseball cap. I have seen these worn on the golf course by both men and women. The brim is large enough to fully protect you from the sun and still won’t impede your golf swing. Besides its UPF 50+ rating, this hat is lightweight, breathable and moisture-wicking for those hot golf days.

Pros:

  • UPF 50+
  • moisture wicking sweatband
  • Fitted sizes small/medium and large/XL

Cons:

  • brim is large for more sun coverage

Glove It Golf Sun Visor

This Glove It Golf Sun Visor has a larger bill than a standard sun visor. This extra coverage not only shields the sun from your eyes but provides more sun protection for your face. Glove It is a great brand in the golf industry providing many needed golf accessories. With a UPF 50+ rating, it also comes with a sweatband built into the headpiece to keep the moisture under control. And it is offered in 27 fun and different colors and designs.

  • built in sweatband
  • adjustable coil for good fit

Cons:

  • larger bill is bigger than the standard looking style

Islanders Women’s Straw Sun Visor

Another great brand, the San Diego Hat Company brings an inventive roll-up hat called the Islanders Women’s Straw Sun Visor. What I like about this is that you can wear it with a high bun, hairdo or updo and it can be rolled up, perfect for packing in a suitcase or bag and for travel. It is UPF 50+ rated and provides full sun protection coverage. This too comes in 30 different colors.

Pros:

  • UPF 50+
  • large brim for more sun protection
  • travel-friendly and packable (rolls up)
  • comes in 30 different colors
  • hand washable, straw material
  • good for high buns and updo’s

Cons:

  • large brim might be an issue while hitting a golf shot

Titleist Golf Hat

For sun protection, these hats are a bit limited in their coverage. Although they are great for shielding the sun’s rays from the upper portion of your face and eyes, they leave your ears, neck and sides of your face exposed.

However, I put this on here because I love my baseball-style golf caps. I particularly like the look and feel of the Titleist golf cap. On days where it’s cloudy and the sun isn’t an issue, this is my go-to hat. Titleist is a wonderful golf brand and has been making quality golf clothing, apparel, and equipment for many years.

Depending on your style, baseball caps for golfers come in pretty much any color, style and brand that you can imagine or want. This one is great because it comes with a magnetic clip so a ball marker can be placed on the bill.

Pros:

  • great brand
  • moisture-wicking sweatband
  • standard curve bill and stretch fit
  • baseball cap style golf hat
  • ball marker magnet

Cons:

  • front bill only – limited sun protection coverage
  • not UPF 50+

Golf Hat Buying Guide

What to Consider When Choosing a Sun Protective Golf Hat

1. Full or Partial Sun Protection

This is something to ask yourself because there truly are many different styles that you can wear. Anything from sun hats, wide brim golf hats, ball caps, bucket hats and golf visors. You name it, it’s out there.

If you are just looking for a hat to protect your eyes from the glare of the sun, the most popular golf hat today is the baseball cap. And this goes for women, men and juniors.

It is what the majority of the Tour Players wear and what I see when I head to the golf course. The great thing about these is that there is no shortage of styles, colors, and brands to choose from.

I personally love the look of a good quality golf cap and have collected quite a few over the years. The only downside to these is that many lack the UPF 50+ rating and only protect the upper portion of the face. This leaves the back of the neck, the ears and part of the face exposed to the sun.

For partial sun protection, you could go with a simple bucket hat that will help protect the back of the neck and especially the ears.

For full coverage, you could go with a medium to large brim golf hat. However, I like the straw hats like the ones you wear to the beach. They are stylish , cooling and provide the extra sun protection for full coverage. And many of them have an adjustable brim which is good for playing golf.

If you decide on a wide brimmed hat, just be careful. It may be too big and can impede your golf game.

2. UPF Rating – Ultraviolet Protection Factor

According to skincancer.org, “a UPF rating means that it is certified to protect from the sun. Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) indicates how much UV radiation (both UVB and UVA) a fabric allows to reach your skin. For example, a UPF 50 fabric blocks 98 percent of the sun’s rays and allows two percent (1/50th) to penetrate, thus reducing your exposure risk significantly.”

A UPF 30 is the minimum amount needed to qualify for The American Skin Cancer Foundation’s Seal of Recommendation.

Be sure to check the product description or inside tag of a hat. It will usually tell you if it is rated and the UPF number. Those that have this rating will be more protective than those without the rating.

3. Travel Friendly and Packable

Will you be travelling and packing your hat?

Make sure to look closely to see if the hat can be folded, is bendable and packable if you need to travel with your hat. Can it be easily packed in a suitcase? Things to consider when purchasing a new hat.

4. Washable

There are some really great ways to wash baseball caps these days. Contraptions like a Ball Cap Hat Washer can help you wash your ball caps, almost looking brand new. We stuck ours in the dishwasher and our hats came out nice and clean. Most of the dirt and sweat marks were gone. Other sun hats, I just do a quick wipe down if needed or throw them in the washing machine if they are washable.

There are also tsweat bands that you insert right into the inside of a hat to help keep the sweat and moisture controlled and comfortable. These are great to prevent all the sweat, sunscreen, makeup, and dirt that collects where the forehead rests against the hat.

5. Fashionable or Practical for Golf?

Fashion and style is important to some and it is fun!

Just be careful and consider functionality too.

I’ve bought some hats in the past that were really cute, but there was no way I could actually play golf in them. You should have seen me trying to hit my golf ball with this large floppy hat.

Some hats may not stay on with a lot of wind either. And there was an outdoorsy hiking style that was very protective of the sun, but I never wore for golf. As I just didn’t like the look so it ended up staying in my closet.

So, keep in mind style, fashion and also being practical or functional for golf.

6. Price

You can find golf hats at pretty much any price point. I personally like to go with brands that are known for their quality craftsmanship simply because I know it may fit better and will hopefully last longer. And it doesn’t necessarily need to be a sun hat for golf. Many of the hats I listed above can be used for many different activities.

7. Fit and Comfort

Make sure the hat you choose is the right size for you. Many hats nowadays can be adjusted either by a strap or cord on the inside of the hat or in the back where it connects.

Father’s Day Gift Ideas

Need a Father’s Day gift for the golfer in your life? Below is a list of my top 10 golf gift ideas that are practical and useful.

Golf Gifts

Titleist ProV1 or Callaway Chrome Soft Golf Balls

One necessity that all golfers need are golf balls. And there are many to choose from. Here, I’m listing the top 3 golf balls that would make most golfers very happy. Titleist and Callaway are well-known brands in golf ball technology. They are somewhat on the pricier side of golf balls, which is why for Father’s Day, a dozen golf balls can be a very nice gift.

Snell Golf Balls

Snell Golf Balls are fairly new to the golf world and yet, are growing in popularity. Started in 2015 by a golf ball designer with almost 30 years of experience in the golf ball business, their mission is “to bring tour caliber equipment to the amateur golfer at an affordable price”. The designer, Dean Snell, worked previously with two of the largest golf ball manufacturers and was a co-creator of the ProV1’s. A friend of my husband, who is also a very good golfer uses and loves these Snell golf balls.

Don’t tell my husband, but he is getting these for Father’s Day this year :).

Superspeed Training System

I just found out about this really great swing trainer. Just about everyone who golfs would love to have more distance and power. This training tool, used by hundreds of Tour Pros, helps increase swing speed and can help add more distance to the golf shot. This is definitely on my personal wish list.

Garmin GPS Approach S10 – Golf Watch

A GPS golf watch was my first foray into determining the distance to the green. As a beginner, all I worried about was hitting the ball as well as I could. But as I improved, I needed to know how far the green was from where I was hitting. Using a GPS watch is easy and extremely useful. You can wander around the golf course trying to find the yardage markers, but this watch tells you front, middle, and back yardages to the green from where you are standing.

Bushnell Hybrid Rangefinder & GPS for Golf

A golf rangefinder can provide even better or more exact yardages. Point to a object with the rangefinder and it will tell you the distance from where you are standing. This handy hybrid gadget displays the GPS distances to the green like a golf watch while also being a rangefinder. I especially like the fact you can just look at the yardages to the green on the display and not have to use the rnagefinder everytime.

Bushnell Pro X2 Laser Rangefinder for Golf

This is the premier rangefinder for those golfers that want just about everything. This provides not only exact distances to any object, but it can also give you the slope reading and other measurements that are needed on a golf course. For tournament play, it also has a switch to turn off these extra measurements.

Trunk It – Golf Organizer for the Trunk

Golf is one of those activities that has a lot of accessories and equipment. We are talking everything from balls, tees, markers, gloves, sunscreen, shoes, towels, scorecards, cleaning tools, beverage holders, sunglasses, hats, and a whole lot more. Having something to keep all these items neat and organized in your car, trunk, house or garage can be extremely useful for a golfer.

During golf season, I keep everything in my trunk so I can just leave the house knowing everything is all there in my car. Since I mostly walk when I golf, I don’t like to bring too many extra items in my golf bag as it can get heavy. After a round of golf, I have a place to put everything and it is neat, organized and efficient. And ready to go for the next round.

PuttOut Putting Trainer

This is a gift that will help the golfer in your life with their golf game. Hands down, it has been one of the most useful training aids my husband and I have purchased. It sits in our living room and we can practice putting anytime. Highly recommend this. It can be used on a carpet or you can get a putting mat as well.

PuttOut Putting Mat

This putting mat can be used in conjunction with the putting trainer above as they go nicely together. I like this particular one because of the lines that can help a golfer line up their putts and ensure their position is correct.

Perfect Practice Putting Mat

This is a very nice gift to give that looks nice and is a great training aid. And can be fun to do either in the office or at home.

Review of the Best Women’s Golf Shoes

Ladies’ or women’s golf shoes are probably one of the most overlooked yet important items you will buy when playing golf.

If you are just starting out as a beginner golfer, there is also the option of just wearing sneakers or running shoes which is what I did in the beginning.

As I started to play more golf though, I realized that having a good pair of shoes made specifically for golf, helped keep my feet stable, and provided better traction as well as weather protection in wet conditions than my sneakers.

When I started golfing over 25 years ago, there really was only one type of golf shoe available. Maybe a few different colors but it was pretty much the traditional leather golf shoes with metal spikes.

Like much of the golf industry, the golf shoe market today has exploded and I believe now has a much larger focus on comfort, performance, style, and fashion.

With so many choices now, I thought it would be helpful to provide a golf shoe buying guide to help you navigate purchasing a pair of golf shoes and what to think about when looking at all the different styles and brands out there.

I admit that I love shoes and I love golf and may have purchased and accumulated quite a few pairs over the years. I am happy to talk about the pros and cons as well.

I’ve listed my favorites and top recommended ladies’ golf shoes here. Keep reading or scroll below to find the buying guide for women’s golf shoes.

The List of Best Women’s Golf Shoes

Skechers Golf Shoes

Skechers has been in the shoe business for almost 30 years and is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to comfort and performance.

If you watch golf on TV or read any to the golf magazines, you may have seen Tour players, Matt Kuchar or Brooke Henderson wearing their Skechers Go Golf Shoes.

I love the fact that Skechers has now moved into the golf market as comfort is really so important in our sport especially if you are walking 9 or 18 holes.

Skechers Go Golf Women’s Max Golf Shoe

These Skechers Max Golf Shoes for Women are designed to look and feel like a sneaker or running shoe. They are lightweight, extremely comfortable, and offered in many different colors and styles.

Wide sizes are available, and as with many athletic shoes, it may be smart to go up a 1/2 size. These are spikeless golf shoes, which means they do still have tiny plastic grippers or nubs that provide some traction while golfing.

I own a pair of these Skechers Go Golf Max shoes and have worn them for the last several years. The golf course I play is pretty hilly so I need comfortable and reliable golf shoes that have enough grip and traction and are good for walking 18 holes of golf with my pushcart. These are one of my go-to golf shoes.

My reason for switching to a sneaker-like golf shoe was to help with my Achilles heel issue that I had developed. I needed to find a golf shoe that I could still walk 18 holes and not aggravate the pain on one of my heels. I like the mesh fabric as it is more flexible and not rigid in the back part of the shoe.

The mesh fabric also is extremely breathable in really hot weather, which keeps your feet cooler when the temperatures rise.

The downside to the mesh fabric is that they are not water-resistant or water proof, which means wet feet with even a little amount of wet weather or on dewy mornings.

I have noticed there are a few styles that have a synthetic rubber strip that wraps around the toe area, which might help with keeping the feet dry on those dewy mornings.

A great tip I was given when these golf shoes get dirty is to throw them in the washing machine. I was pleasantly surprised at how well they came out- clean and almost new looking and this was after 2 seasons of wear and tear.

Pros

  • Sneaker-like comfort
  • Price
  • Gripping traction with spikeless golf shoe
  • Fabric mesh is breathable and comfortable
  • Easy to clean
  • Many different color and style options
  • Machine washable

Cons

  • The mesh fabric is not water resistent or waterproof

Skechers Go Golf Women’s Eagle Golf Shoes

These Skechers Eagle Golf Shoes for Women are lightweight, comfortable, water-resistant, and are offered in several different style and color combinations.

As with many Skechers shoes, these are made with comfort in mind and use the Goga cushioning technology. Wide sizes are available, however, as with many athletic shoes, it may be smart to go up a 1/2 size.

These are spikeless golf shoes, which actually means there are still tiny plastic spikes or nubs that help grip the ground when hitting your golf shots.

Made with a synthetic material, they wipe clean and are water-resistant on dewy mornings.

Pros

  • Price
  • Comfort and GOGA Max Cushioning
  • Water-Resistant
  • Wipes Clean
  • Spikeless
  • Odor inhibitor, wicking moisture away, long lasting

Cons

  • Plastic grippers can get a little slippery on hard surfaces.
  • Tongue is attached to the shoe with a somewhat narrow opening
  • Water resistant, but no waterproof guarantee

ECCO Biom Hybrid Women’s Golf Shoe

This Women’s Ecco Biom Hybrid Golf Shoe is another favorite and is ultra-comfortable. The Ecco brand is a Danish company founded in 1963 and is known for its high-quality soft leather walking shoes around the world. They are also known for their innovation in footwear. In golf, to ensure a proven spikeless technology, they tested 2500 athletes to make sure that the shoe would perform to the highest level.

The 4 dots on the shoe symbolize “quality, comfort, technology, and style”. These ladies Ecco golf shoes provide amazing comfort for the golfer who needs a comfortable walking shoe as well as weather protection on wet rainy days or wet conditions on the golf course.

I wore these for at least 5 years and they were a favorite. Extremely comfortable, waterproof and I loved the soft leather which for me didn’t need to be broken in.

Pros

  • High-quality shoe and brand
  • Waterproof with Hydromax technology
  • Extremely comfortable for walking 9 or 18 holes
  • Soft, breathable high-quality leather
  • Spikeless
  • Comes in multiple different color choices

Cons

  • Price

Adidas PureBoost XG 2 Women’s Golf Shoes

I really am starting to like the Adidas Golf brand. I feel like they are designing some great apparel and shoes that seem to fit women.

The Adidas PureBoost XG Golf Shoes for Women are lightweight, flexible, and extremely solid feeling when walking the golf course and playing a round. They provide light to moderate arch support and are designed with a patented Boost foam technology that provides energized cushioning.

Adidas PureBoost XG 2 Women's Golf Shoe

These particular Adidas shoes for golf are made with the mesh fabric that a lot of running type golf shoes are now made with, making them quite flexible and breathable. It has a synthetic strip on the toe area that helps keep dew from getting your feet wet. They are good for a nice sunny day however, they are not waterproof for muddy, wet or rainy conditions. I was concerned when I wore these on dewy mornings, but I wore them all last season with no issues with soggy feet.

I have been really surprised at how comfortable they are and how solid they feel. In fact, I just bought another pair in the black color for this season. So comfortable and cute!

One other note is that if you walk a lot, these were great for all the hills and terrain at my home course. I usually like loose-fitting golf shoes, but these provide my feet with a little extra support and coverage needed especially when walking some of the uneven terrains.

Just be careful when ordering as I went up a full size bigger and these shoes tend to run a bit on the narrow side. Also, the tongue is attached so you do need to fit your foot into the opening. Other than that, these are quickly becoming my new go-to golf shoes.

Pros

  • Come in a choice of 3 colors.
  • Light arch support
  • Lightweight cloudfoam provides great cushioning
  • Spikeless golf shoes with small extra treads for grips
  • Mesh provides flexibility and breathability
  • Lateral stability through the golf swing

Cons

  • A snug fit that runs a bit narrow. Best to order 1/2 – 1 full size up.
  • A slip-on sneaker, tongue is attached.
  • Mesh fabric – not water-resistant or waterproof.

Adidas Response Bounce Women’s Golf Shoes

The Adidas Women’s Response Bounce Golf Shoes are a great all around golf shoe. They provide “cushioning, comfort, stability for maximum golf performance”.

The cushioning technology uses a Bounce Foam technology that allows for amazing comfort while walking 9 or 18 holes of golf.

These ladies golf shoes have actual soft spikes so if you need a golf shoe that will grip the ground as you swing, then these Adidas golf shoes will help you with that extra traction needed.

A friend of mine owns a pair of these and she mentioned that she likes how light and comfortable they are and that they keep her feet dry during some wetter conditions on the course.

Pros

  • Price
  • Comfortable for walking 9 or 18 holes using Bounce Foam technology
  • Spikes for traction and gripping performance
  • Microfiber leather and climastorm water resistant protection

Cons

  • Leather might be a bit stiffer than a soft mesh or fabric

FootJoy DryJoys Women’s Golf Shoes

I can not have a list of best women’s golf shoes without including FootJoy, a long-standing premier maker of golf shoes. They have been making shoes since 1857, and focus on “craftmanship, technology, style, fit and function”.

These Women’s Footjoy DryJoy BOA Golf Shoes provide midfoot stability, enhanced traction, and comfort. If you are looking for enhanced, top-of-the-line traction and gripping performance in your golf swing, the Footjoy DryJoys use SoftSpike cleat technology.

Made with a full grain leather, they also come with a 2-year waterproof guarantee.

The ladies DryJoy golf shoes do not have laces to tie. Instead it uses BOA technology to help tighten the laces for a more custom fit for your feet.

In the beginning, they may feel a bit stiff as they are made of high-quality durable leather and may take time wearing in.

Footjoy Dryjoys were my first ever pair of golf shoes and once worn in, they lasted for many many years, keeping my feet nice and dry in all weather conditions.

Pros

  • High-quality full grain leather golf shoe
  • Great traction with Softspike cleats during your golf swing
  • 2 year waterproof guarantee
  • Long lasting golf shoe

Cons

  • Price
  • A little stiff and tight, may take time to wear in

Overall Recommendation

It is really hard to pick one shoe over another as we as individuals are different especially when it comes to our feet. Having said that, if I were to choose the best women’s golf shoe overall from this list, I’d pick the ECCO Women’s Biom Hybrid Golf Shoe.

I just love this golf shoe for their supreme comfort and that they keep feet dry and protected, and will last many years. It is also the golf shoe that I see others playing in the most on the golf course – so a very popular golf shoe.

Women’s Golf Shoe Buying Guide.

These are some areas and points to consider when buying a pair of shoes for golf.

1. Comfort

Think about whether you will be walking a flat golf course, a hilly golf course or riding in a golf cart mostly.

If you are walking a golf course, especially if it is a long or hilly course, finding the right golf shoes is so very important. In this case, you will want to find golf shoes that are pretty much made for walking and are super comfortable. The last thing you want is to be uncomfortable for 4-5 hours or in agony.

However, if you will mostly be riding in a cart, then you won’t be walking as much. Which means you can look at other options of golf shoes.

2. Weather Protection

Do you need water resistant or waterproof shoes?

Water resistant golf shoes will keep your feet fairly dry in dewy grass and some wetness on the course.

Be careful of the mesh sneaker-style golf shoes as they may not be very weather protective since they are made of fabric and not leather/synthetic leather. However, some of the new fabrics out there are increasingly using water resistant technologies that are pretty amazing.

Having a rubber or synthetic strip along the toe may help with morning dew and smaller amounts of water on the course.

Waterproof golf shoes will keep your feet dry in rainy and wetter conditions. There are golf shoes that come with a 1 or 2-year waterproof guarantee with your purchase so if this is something that is really important to you, it may be worthwhile looking into.

3. Budget and Price

The many different options of golf shoes on the market today, comes with every price range as well.

As with fashion and apparel in any industry, you can find practically anything you need at the right price. A high-quality shoe at a higher price may last many years and provide everything you need.

A lower-priced golf shoe that provides the comfort you need may not last as many years, but since it was priced lower, you can purchase another pair or even several pairs in different colors for a fraction of the higher-priced shoes.

4. Fashion and Style

Biion Women's Golf Shoes

These Biion Footwear Women’s Golf Shoes seem to be all the rage this year. I like to think of them as Crocs meets golf shoes. They are so fun, and I always get tons of compliments and questions about them. Some people don’t wear socks with them, but I like to wear little footie socks. These are great to wear especially if you will be out for a casual round of golf and riding in a cart. And they have tons of different patterns, styles and colors!

I golfed with a woman in a local charity tournament and she had the cutest little golf flats or golf moccasins. I asked if they were golf shoes and she told me they were and that she only wears them when she doesn’t have to walk the hilly course like the one we were playing. I found them online here and they are so cute! Marc Joseph Moccasin Golf Shoes

What is so great is you can find so many fun and unique fashionable ladies’ shoes that are also golf shoes. Just like with women’s golf clothes and apparel, there are many more options available than ever before. Golf brands are finally becoming much more creative and fun.

Last year, I could not stop thinking about these particular Gfore golf shoes that I saw in our Pro Shop and ended up splurging on them (used some of my tournament and league winnings).

Women's Golf Shoes

They are a name brand and yes, they are fashionable and stylish golf shoes. I only wear them when I am riding in a cart, or playing in fun golf events and charity tournaments.

But, they look great and I love the fashion statement these golf shoes make. I think my pair was a past year’s model, but here is a link to a cute pair of gfore women’s golf shoes in pink and white, which is also really unique and stylish.

5. Foot Issues

If you have foot issues, it is extremely important to find the right shoes since you will be wearing them for 4-5 hours and possibly walking.

My feet were fine until I developed an Achilles heel issue – mostly in one particular foot. So, now I need to wear golfing shoes that help alleviate that pain and that I can still walk and golf in for 18 holes.

Luckily I found a few different brands that meet my needs. From research and talking to others, I found that having a mesh or fabric backing was the key.

My husband, on the other hand, has high arches and a bit of plantar fasciitis, so he needs golf shoes that help support his arches and has used inserts as well.

6. Spikes versus Spikeless

The metal spikes that I grew up playing with were crazy strong and could ruin hardwood floors in clubhouses and golf course greens.

These were officially banned by golf courses around the late 1990’s due mostly to damage to the greens. There are some Tour golfers that still play in metal spikes most likely because of the traction and groundedness they provide.

Spikeless golf shoes aren’t flat and smooth. They usually come with some of kind of small plastic grippers or nubs that will help you grip the ground, but they won’t provide as much traction as actual plastic soft spikes.

The new plastic soft spikes are a cross between the old metal spikes and spikeless golf shoes soles. Maybe you need more traction for walking up and down slippery fairways and terrain or need extra traction in your golf swing. These soft spikes provide just that for the recreational golfer or amateur player.

7. Leather, Synthetic Leather and Mesh or Fabric

I have many golf friends who have been golfing for years. Their go-to is the traditional leather golf shoe and they love them. These have been around since the early 1900s. They are high quality with genuine leather, are usually waterproof, and will stand the test of time. The only downside with the hard leather is that they tend to be stiff and inflexible and need some time to wear in. But people still love them.

The mesh and fabric-covered shoes provide a soft and flexible golf shoe that provides some serious comfort on the golf course. But, the downside is that they typically lack in weather protection and keeping your feet fully dry on wet rainy days.

Think about the temperatures outside as well. Leather or synthetic leather shoes may not be as breathable in hot weather. Whereas a mesh or fabric-covered shoe may be better at keeping your feet cooler. Yet, on a colder raw day in the Fall or Winter, it might be better to have the leather shoes to keep your feet warmer.

New softer leathers, synthetic leather and materials are being developed with new technologies every year, which is really exciting. Shoe manufacturers and designers are coming out with golf shoes that combine all these different characteristics and needs from weather protection, comfort, style, and overall performance.
